As a solo female traveler on a quest to visit all 193 UN-recognized countries in the world, I have gone on countless adventures across the globe. With 100 countries already explored, my journey recently brought me back to the United States in the middle of the winter. To escape the cold on my way to Puerto Rico solo travels, I spent a few days in Tampa. As some of you know, last year after I completed travelling all South American countries, I departed from Guyana back to Australia but that flight was delayed for over 24 hours so were offered some flight credit but I hadn’t used it yet and it was close to expiry date. So in a hurry I booked a flight to P.R. with a layover in Tampa. I was in New York solo trip and it was freezing cold so this long weekend trip brought the heat. If you are after some hot days to escape the cold or just a weekend trip, continue reading this 3 days in Tampa itinerary.
Tampa’s history is a blend of indigenous cultures, Spanish exploration, and American development. The area was originally inhabited by the Tocobaga and Calusa tribes. Spanish explorers arrived in the 16th century, and Fort Brooke was established in 1824. Tampa’s growth accelerated in the late 19th century with the arrival of Henry Plant’s railroad and the development of the cigar industry in Ybor City. Today, Tampa is a vibrant city with a diverse economy and rich cultural heritage. Its location on Florida’s Gulf Coast makes it a popular destination for travellers.
