Today I am going to share my experience at the tomato festival Sydney. But first, a little story. 2 years ago when I was traveling in Spain, I really wanted to go to the Tomatina festival in Bunol. So there I was waiting for a local share-a-car to get to Bunol but unfortunately, it never arrived and I missed out on the Tomatina festival! (it was on my bucket list) Instead, I went to the beach to forget about it.

Fast forward little over 2 years and I got invited to attend The Tomato Festival in Sydney, Australia! Clearly, these are two different types of tomato festivals but I wasn’t going to miss this one especially when it involved food!

Introduction/Location:

Australia is located in the southern hemisphere below Asia. Sydney is the capital city of state New South Wales and about four million people live here which makes it the biggest city in Australia. Many people guess either Sydney or Melbourne is the Capital city of the country but it is actually Canberra.

I feel Sydney has cool modern vibes with lots to see and do. From miles of ocean coastline, history, nature, culture, art, fashion, cuisine, design, surf beaches, tastiest meals in stunning restaurants, tons of events, festivals to serene blue mountains, wildlife, gorgeous botanical garden, and more. You won’t feel bored at all. One of many of those events was the longest lunch at the tomato festival organized by the royal botanical garden in Sydney.

Longest lunch at the tomato festival

It was nice sunny Saturday and I was excited to be part of something different and delicious as Tomatoes! Based on my invitation, I knew there won’t be tomato fights as in Spain but carefully selected tomatoes based meals instead. For some reason, I do not like and avoid cream-based food but absolutely love tomato-based meals. It was perfect!

As I arrived at the flower bed lawn in the Royal Botanical Garden, I noticed the longest lunch set up I had ever see! Long white set up overlooking the water view with cute little tomato interiors and cool live music playing in the background.  I have posted food pictures below for you all.

Do you think it’s a hassle of plugging your camera into your computer? This memory card reader will fit cards of all sizes and make an easy transfer to your computer. The reader supports all popular SD memory card formats, including SD™/SDHC™/SDXC™ memory cards, UHS-I SDHC/SDXC memory cards, and microSDHC™/microSDXC™ memory cards. It is also compatible with the latest UDMA 7-enabled CompactFlash cards.

Before I began reading your post, I was wondering if the tomato festival in Sydney was anything like La Tomatina in Spain! Strangely, it is quite the opposite and to be honest, I’d rather go for something like this one, a lot less messy and a lot more classy! I love the tomato arrangements, so beautifully done!

These tomatoes look so fresh and the food looks amazing. My first thought was that it would be like the Spanish tomato festival but this looks far more civilised and far less messy! Beautiful photographs!

What an experience! I didn’t know the Longest Tomato Lunch existed. The tomato designs/art looks very lovely and like they must have taken a very long time to create. I’d love to experience this myself one day.

When I read the title, I thought it was something on the lines of La Tomatina. While I’m sure I would thoroughly enjoy La Tomatina, this offers a different perceptive and experience. I also really enjoyed the vintage look of some of your photos.

Tomatoes are a very filling food so you must have been STUFFED after that meal! However, nothing beats the taste of garden fresh tomatoes. I bet everything tasted amazing, what a great experience.

I love tomatoes! They are so nutritious and available everywhere. This is the first time I heard about tomato festival. So maybe at this festival, tomatoes are sold cheaply, right?

Wow, this one seemed to be really an interesting festival to attend. I never heard about this one before, and I find it unique. I haven’t been to Sydney yet, and this one will surely be something I should experience when I get the chance to visit Sydney soon. The tomatoes are really big and tempting and very fresh.

great that its not like La tomatina where you waste your produce. Its a much better use. Surprising that everything in the festival is so Tomatoish. A very unique concept. 🙂
